Camp Rzr unofficial start to the Glamis Dune season

Camp RZR has become a staple of the west coast dessert scene since its inception New Years of 2012. The following year 2013 moving to Halloween weekend and has found a home ever since. This weekend has become the unofficial opening of the Glamis Sand Dunes for the upcoming season. Camp RZR is weekend jam packed with events that will draw off roaders from all over the country to partake in 2 days of festivities scheduled by Polaris (typically Friday and Saturday). For many people this is a can’t miss event. The area located behind the Glamis Beach store will be the setting when pulling up you will see a giant Ferris wheel in the middle of all the vendors. Camp RZR will be October 30th and 31st 2026. Plan now get your buddies together and start to book accomadations for the time of you life.

Schedule of events

The main staple is the vendors area showcasing the latest trends and parts in the Dessert scene. Mixed in between the vendors you will find food vendors along with places for the kids to play or ride the Ferris wheel. During the day hours they have events such as the Ride and Seek scavenger hunt in the Dunes. The scavenger hunt will typically runs both days with 3 stations set up located int he dunes and follow your GPS or Ride Command to locate. Once located you can check in with your Polaris card (you can obtain at event) for the ability to win prizes the last night. Within the Camp RZR area you will see a showcase of custom vehicle builds. Again there will be a freestyle motocross show at 11 and 2 both days featuring Polaris athletes Twitch and Vicky Golden. For evening entertainment starting at 430 both days DJ Lechero will play leading into the live music on friday being Los Ravines and Saturday night Drone show. The Main event of the weekend is typically the giving away of several Polaris vehicles in the evening on the last night. Entries can be obtained throughout the day by participating in scheduled events for free.

Love it or hate it Camp RZR brings people from all over the country that dont normally ride in these dunes. For many regular that frequent Glamis they will stay away. They prefer the quiet weekends with the dunes open to them selves with out any worries of crashing into people while driving. Every duner wants the sport to grow but for many all the “NEW” drivers brings carnage and chaos. With the easy access of the sign a drive ability now many Newbies dont understand how fast their new toy is while lacking the ability to read or ride in the dunes. Unfortunately this weekend seems to have a higher incident of crashes and broken parts and. The Lore and excitement that this weekend brings many people travel from out of state or from Mexico to see the latest and greatest from Polaris with little to no experience in the sand. This is probably the biggest downside.

Expect: to experience Heavy dune traffic along with many people in and around vendors row. Difficulty finding a good camping area especially if you show up late in the week (Thursday/Friday). There will be a ton of people wandering around vendor row and beach store.

Riding Can Feel Overwhelming

For new Glamis visitors, the amount of traffic can be intimidating. Large bowls and major dune crossings often have riders approaching from multiple directions. More Dust

Thousands of vehicles riding simultaneously create significant dust, reducing visibility in some areas. If there is no wind the dust will just settle all over your vehicles. Plan to give everything that you take a deep cleaning after this weekend. With the increase in dust will lower visability around the Camp RZR site so you should ride/drive slower and more cautious.
